5 Mile Stone Mountain off leash pack hike in NC!
Stone Mountain in Roaring Gap, NC is about 1 hr and 45 min drive from Charlotte and it is a GREAT 5 mile hike!
Approximately 5 mile loop with about 1,000' elevation gain total. I would say much of the trail is "EASY" to "MODERATE" and then there are 2 sections that are close to a "STRENEOUS" rating for about a total of about 30 min of strenuous climbing mixed up into 2 different locations of the trail. The rest of the trail has easy to moderate ups and downs in elevation. I do recommend hiking shoes but I recommend those for all trails. I personally wear "low hikers" on all trails and they suffice just fine for me.
